Resubmit Form Needs to Update Document-based PDF

We have successfully had a few people fill out our Form that is based on an actual paper copy and generates a PDF using the Document.

Due to the size of the resulting PDF (20+ MB due to photos being attached) we are NOT emailing the PDF Document.

Unfortunately, a mistake was made on a submission, so we had the user open the Form again to edit their responses.

They were successful in replacing two of the photos and resubmitting.

Unfortunately in the Results tab we can see that the Document PDF was not updated to reflect the change.

Is there a step we missed somewhere?

Thanks,

Dion

Hey there,

Updates within a single document template on the same user id is not yet supported natively.

Hi Eri,

Is there a workaround?

Maybe we don’t generate the PDF on submission, but only after someone verifies the info and then ticks a “Verified Info” box or something?

Thanks,

– Dion

That should work! I believe your document Fill Trigger here is currently Form Completion. You can change that to Changed Field Value for specific control.

Thanks. We’ll give that a go!

HI @eri ,

I seem to be missing something.

I added a new field to my form to accommodate for corrections, let’s call it “Confirmed”.

I changed the initial form completion email to be an Outlook email as only the built-in Email integration offers checking for a field change it seems

I used the default Email integration to check for “Confirmed” being changed and having the value of “YES”.

An email is sent, but the resulting Document does not seem to get updated.

Thoughts/Suggestions?

Thanks,

Dion

Hi there, your document is still on the following trigger. This is set in the Document tab itself.

The setting here takes precedence over the latest email setup you added which currently isn’t really tied to the document (you are not attaching the document in the said email action).

You can either Set the Fill Trigger here to No trigger and then set an email action on the correct trigger (field value changed) and ensure document is attached in this action. or,

Set the Fill Trigger here (in the document itself) to Changed Field Value.
